The Orbit is essentially a fitness and sleep tracking smartband, which is available on Flipkart with a price tag of Rs 4,999. While you can buy a Mi Band for much less, or opt for the slightly more expensive Fitbit Flex, the Orbit s advantage is that it flaunts a display.
As far as the technicalities are concerned, the Runtastic Orbit calculates the number of steps you have taken, calories burnt, lets you set personal goals, and also track sleep cycles. The smartband is waterproof up to 100 meters, and connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth. The smartphones compatible with the Orbit include iPhone 4S and above, Android smartphones running on 4.3 Jelly Bean and above, and Windows Phones 8.1 and above.
As mentioned above, Fitbit is one of the companies that have recently made its debut in India. The company launched five wearables ranging from Rs 3,990 and going up to Rs 19,990, as well as a connected weighing scale called Aria, priced at Rs 9,990.
The wearable segment, though in a nascent stage, is steadily growing. According to an IDC report, 11.4 million wearables were shipped in the first quarter of this year, while almost 72.1 million are expected to be shipped by the end of this year. This is a strong 173.3 percent growth from last year, where 26.4 million units were shipped.
