The new Gear VR will start shipping in the United States from November. One of the talking points is its compatibility. Where the previous version only worked with Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 4, the latest headset is compatible with all the smartphones Samsung launched this year. This includes the Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+. Also Read - Gorilla Glass DX, DX+ to now protect your phone cameras, will debut on a Samsung phone
While the new Gear VR headset looks similar to the previous version, it comes with a redesigned trackpad. Weighing 310 grams, it is 22 percent lighter than the last generation of the VR headset. With accelerator, proximity and gyro sensors on board, the headset will be available in frost white color.
Along with the headset, Oculus also announced new content, which will be made available for the platform over the coming months. This includes services such as Twitch, TiVo, Netflix, Lionsgate, Hulu and gaming titles such as Minecraft.
While there is no word about Indian availability yet, the company mentioned that it will be heading to other markets over the coming months.
