Samsung wants a piece of smart home space by adding Bixby to all its appliances by the year 2020. To achieve that, Samsung has already started integrating the smart assistant into its smartphones, refrigerators, air conditioners and TVs. Adding to that that list this year, will also be its ovens and robot vacuum cleaners.

While companies like Amazon and Google are also trying to create that ecosystem, having a large assortment of products underneath the same roof, makes it easier for the Samsung to achieve that goal. Not to mention, Samsung has already established the smart assistant on some of its smartphones, which in most cases acts as the controlling device. Samsung also seems to be working on Bixby 2.0, which is rumored to be announced with the Galaxy Note 9. It’s said to carry more functionality and have a faster response time.

Not just that, Samsung also wants to integrate the voice assistant with third-party appliances that we may use in our homes. Samsung is looking to create an ecosystem, where consumers will be able to operate all their appliances with a simple voice command.

It’s still difficult to say if Samsung will be able to make all its devices IoT ready by 2020. That also depends on the company playing its cards right. Most of the other companies have launched smart speakers, which is a market Samsung still hasn’t ventured into yet. Samsung has also kept Bixby limited to its flagship smartphones, which needs to change if Samsung really wants to see its dream come true.
