Samsung Electronics has just launched its next-generation refrigerator, the Samsung Family Hub 3.0. The reason the company is calling this as the “next generation refrigerator” is because this is an IoT-enabled family hub which is likely to “revolutionize the Indian refrigerator industry” while setting “a new standard for connected living”. This is not the first time that we have seen the refrigerator as the company unveiled it during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 20118. It went on the win the “Best of Innovation Award” at CES to reaffirm that the industry thinks that this device is as significant as the company claims it to be.
According to the announcement, Samsung claims that it “ensures a superlative entertainment experience” with the help of the 21-inch touchscreen display embedded on the refrigerator. The company has also added Bixby support so that users can control the device and its functions. It also enables a number of tasks for the users that they would not be able to carry on any other regular refrigerator such as browsing the internet, watching videos, taking notes, playing music, using your voice to control the device.

Saurav Katyal, the Director for Consumer Electronics Business at Samsung India issued a statement, “Family Hub offers a wide range of smart features that allow consumers to do what they could not do before. These include syncing up food storage, keeping family members better connected and organized, and providing enhanced entertainment.”
The company claims that this will help users improve their shopping behavior with the help of bulk shopping through shopping apps or fewer retail outlet visits because they know about the contents of their fridge, have more insights about global cuisines, and ingredients of their food to promote healthy living, and appliances will be able to talk to each other. Users will be able to use the view inside camera to label their food with expiration dates or use their smartphone to take a peek inside their refrigerator from anywhere, or even leaving notes for the display screen of their fridge.
The Family Hub 3.0 comes with a built-in whiteboard, memo, photo albums, shared calendars, hand-write and send notes, recognize voices and even ask the refrigerator to give personalized information. Samsung will open pre-booking for Family Hub “exclusively on Samsung Shop and Amazon.com” starting from July 18 at Rs 280,000. Samsung will also offer a free Samsung Galaxy S9 along with the refrigerator as part of the pre-booking offer.
