Samsung seems to be aggressively working on its Galaxy A series. Since its debut in 2015, there have been two variants each of the Galaxy A series smartphones, and the third variant, which would be the 2017 version is already in the works. Every day, we are bombed with reports of the upcoming Galaxy A series smartphones which include Galaxy A7 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017), Galaxy A8 (2016), and now the Galaxy A3 (2017). We already know that the Galaxy A3 (2017) has been spotted on benchmarking website GFXBench and Indian import/export website Zauba. The smartphone has now received Bluetooth certification by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG).
Although Bluetooth certifications do not reveal any specifications or features about the device, it is one step towards confirmation for the smartphone. As is customary, the upcoming Galaxy A series smartphones will most likely be launched early 2017. One thing to be noted however, is that the Galaxy A3 (2016) never made it to the Indian market. However, the Zauba listing for the Galaxy A3 (2017) could be hinting at an India launch. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. The recent GFXBench listing revealed the smartphone’s key specifications and gave us a rough idea of what to expect from the smartphone.
Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) specifications
According to the listing on GFXBench, the Galaxy A3 (2017) is expected to feature a 4.7-inch display with resolution of 720×1280 pixels. On the contrary, previous rumors suggest that the Galaxy A3 (2017) will feature a 5.5-inch screen-size. Under the hood of the smartphone an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and paired with ARM Mali-T830 GPU is expected. The Galaxy A3 (2017) is expected to come with 2GB of RAM and onboard storage of 8GB which would be further expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card.
On the software front, the smartphone is expected to run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. In the photography department, the listing suggests that the smartphone will sport a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 7-megapixel front camera. The connectivity options expected on the smartphone include NFC, Wi-Fi and the newest Bluetooth standard, Bluetooth 5.0, along with LTE support. According to the Zauba listing, the Galaxy A3 (2017) is priced at Rs 10,287 which seems justifiable as per its specifications. Speaking about its predecessor, the Galaxy A3 (2016) was launched last year. The smartphone features a 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED display. Under the hood of the smartphone, runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The Galaxy A3 (2016) comes with 1.5GB of RAM and onboard storage of 16GB which is further expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The connectivity options that the smartphone offers are dual-SIM support, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1 and microUSB v2.0. In the photography department, the smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with AF, LED flash and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. For power, the smartphone uses a 2,300mAh battery.

If we compare the two variants of the Galaxy A3, the noticeable changes occur in the processor and the OS. There are some downgrades too surprisingly which is in the rear camera, and the internal storage of the smartphone.
