Samsung had launched the Galaxy A series last year with the smartphones like the Galaxy A3 (2016), Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016). Over the last few months, Samsung has expanded the series with new smartphones. The Galaxy A series sits between Samsung’s premium Galaxy S series and budget J series. Now, Samsung is reportedly going to add a new member to its A series of phones. Rumored as the Galaxy A7 (2017), the smartphone has been spotted on benchmarking website Geekbench. The smartphone was previously spotted on benchmarking website GFXBench, Indian import/export website Zauba and even on the website of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). The Geekbench listing, as spotted by mysmartprice, shows a score 751 for single core and 4071 for multi cores. The Galaxy A3 (2017) was spotted with the model number SM-A320F on Geekbench website. Going by the listing, the smartphone will come with a 1.59GHz octa-core Samsung Exynos 7870 chipset based on 14nm FinFET process. One thing worth noticing is that the Galaxy A3 (2016) never made it to the Indian market. But, the Zauba listing for the Galaxy A3 (2017) hints at possible India launch. Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) specifications
From what we know so far, the Galaxy A3 (2017) is expected to feature a 4.7-inch display with resolution of 720×1280 pixels. Though, previous reports said that the Galaxy A3 (2017) will feature a 5.5-inch screen. It is said to be powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and paired with ARM Mali-T830 GPU. The Galaxy A3 (2017) is expected to come with 2GB of RAM and onboard storage of 8GB, which would be further expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. It is worth pointing out here that the Galaxy A3 (2016) comes with twice the internal storage, and expandable storage up to 128GB. The Galaxy A3 (2017) is expected to be an upgrade over the predecessor, therefore it is highly unlikely to come with lesser storage capacity.
On the photography department, the smartphone will sport a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 7-megapixel front camera. On the connectivity front, the smartphone is expected to include NFC, Wi-Fi and the newest Bluetooth standard, Bluetooth 5.0, along with LTE support. On the software front, the smartphone is expected to runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
In comparison, the Galaxy A3 (2016) features a 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED display. Under the hood of the smartphone, runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz paired with 1.5GB of RAM and onboard storage of 16GB which is further expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. In the photography department, the smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with AF, LED flash and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. For power, the smartphone uses a 2,300mAh battery. The connectivity options that the smartphone offers are dual-SIM support, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1 and microUSB v2.0. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Samsung is also working on another A-series smartphone called, the Galaxy A5 (2017). The smartphone is expected to come with a 5.2-inch display. Under the hood, it could be powered by an octa-core Exynos 7880 processor clocked at 1.87GHz paired with 3GB of RAM. It could feature a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. The smartphone is expected to be armed by a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging support. On the software front, the smartphone is expected to run Android Marshmallow 6.0 wrapped under TouchWiz UI.
Besides the Galaxy A3 (2017) and Galaxy A5 (2017), Samsung is also being rumored to be working on new smartphones under its ‘C’ and ‘J’ series. As for the C-series, the smartphone, dubbed as the Galaxy C9, is said to feature a 6-inch full HD Super AMOLED display. It is said to be powered by Snapdragon 652 processor. The Galaxy C9 is expected to come with 6GB of RAM. Also on offer will be 64GB, which would be further expandable via a microSD card. It will sport a 16-megapixel camera both on the front and the back. On the software front, the Galaxy C9 is expected to run on Android Marshmallow out-of-the-box. Connectivity options include 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and Bluetooth 4.2.
Whereas the Galaxy J3 (2017) will come with a 5-inch full HD AMOLED display. There is said to be two variants of the phone. The only difference between the two variants is that one comes with an HD display while the other features a full HD display. On the camera front, the smartphone will sport an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. Armed with a 2,600mAh battery, the Galaxy J3 (2017) is said to be priced under $200, which is approximately Rs 13,300.
