Samsung is already known to be working on the successor of the Galaxy A5 (2016). Called, Galaxy A5 (2017), the smartphone was recently spotted on benchmarking website revealing some of its key specifications. The smartphone has also received Wi-Fi certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA). In the latest leak, video renders of the Galaxy A5 (2017) have surfaced. It offers a closer look at the smartphone design from all angles. Created by AndroidAuthority in collaboration with famous leakster @OnLeaks, it seems to borrow design elements from Samsung s flagship smartphone the Galaxy S7. The renders show off front panel covered with 2.5D curved glass, earpiece and selfie camera on top and home button underneath the display. Turn to the back and you have edges with rounded corners. Unlike the Galaxy S7 camera module, the Galaxy A5 (2017) renders don t show the camera bump. Antenna bands can be seen on the top end and bottom end of the smartphone.
From what we can see in the renders, the smartphone could embrace USB Type-C port at the bottom for charging and data transfer. The headphone jack is also seen at the bottom. The left edge of the panel has volume buttons whereas the right edge has power button and a speaker grill, something that we ve already seen on the recently launched Galaxy On NXT.
Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) specifications
As mentioned above, the Galaxy A5 (2017) has already been spotted on Geekbench and received Wi-Fi certification as well. Based on the rumors and leaks so far, we can expect the Galaxy A5 (2017) to feature a 5.2-inch display and will could be offered in two models — single SIM and dual-SIM support. Under the hood, it could be powered by an octa-core Exynos 7880 processor (four Cortex A72 cores + four Cortex A53 cores) clocked at 1.87GHz paired with 3GB of RAM. However, details about internal storage are scarce at the moment.
It could sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. However, details about front-facing selfie camera are scarce at the moment. Furthermore, the smartphone is expected to be fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging support. As per the benchmark listing, the smartphone is expected to run Android Marshmallow 6.0 wrapped under TouchWiz UI. The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) is expected to bring some upgrades over Galaxy A5 (2016). This includes 3GB of RAM instead of the existing 2GB. The Galaxy A5 (2016) is equipped with a 5.2-inch full HD display. It is powered by Exynos 7580 octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz and comes with 16GB of onboard storage along with a microSD card slot for further expansion. The smartphone is fuelled with a 2,900mAh battery. The Galaxy A5 (2016) brought a major change as compared to its predecessor and that was the fingerprint scanner, and the same is expected to be embedded inside the home button.
The Galaxy A5 (2016) was launched at a price tag of Rs 29,400 in India, and it is currently available for Rs 21,900. Currently there is no word the pricing and release date of the Galaxy A5 (2017).
