In-flight mobile calls and internet services to kick start in India soon

While initially targeted for next year, the telecom department is now all set to allow in-flight mobile calls and internet connectivity in India in the next two months. The Department of Telecom (DoT) already seems to have organized meetings with both telecom operators and airline companies to start the process. Once the telecom department clears the plan, it will take another two weeks to get the Law Ministry s approval. According to TRAI, access to calls and internet will be provided beyond 3,000-meter altitude. To get the facility on-board, Indian carriers are said to invest about $1 million.

Other features include 6.4-inch AMOLED screen, which is sad to feature the same waterdrop notch as the Oppo R17. The smartphone also comes powered by a Snapdragon 710 SoC with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage. It is said to go on sale in China in October for a price of RMB 4,299, which is approximately Rs 43,800.

UIDAI makes face authentication mandatory for Aadhaar related eKYCs

UIDAI has announced that it is making face recognition mandatory for every Aadhaar related authentication, as an added security measure. The new process will be applicable for opening a new bank account or getting a new mobile SIM. Additionally, UIDAI has also proposed a two-factor authentication for use of face recognition by telecom operators, where an individual provides Aadhaar number and the authentication will be done using fingerprint or iris and face. A set of specific instructions will be issued on implementation of face authentication to authentication agencies and telecom operators soon.
