Samsung Galaxy A8s leaked Infinity-O panel leaks reveals centered camera hole

The hole in the screen will presumably enable a very high screen-to-body ratio.

Samsung recently showed its new Infinity displays to the world at the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) in San Francisco. The company laid the roadmap to what it’s future smartphones will look like as it teased a variety of new bezel-less panel designs. These were dubbed Infinity-U, Infinity-V, and Infinity-O. The last one is the most intriguing one as Samsung wants to punch a hole in the display itself to get rid of the notch – a quirky and unique design for the smartphone industry so far.

It has since been rumored that Samsung’s Galaxy A8s will be the first handset to feature the Infinity-O display. Other contradicting rumors are that these will be used in Samsung’s flagship series. However, nothing concrete is known as of yet. Now, a fresh leak has popped up showing panels with the alleged Infinity-O panels.

As you can see in the image, the hole is centered as opposed to what renders going around the internet have been suggesting. This also looks more symmetrical. The hole will be created using a DPSS (diode-pumped solid-state) laser. And it is remarkably even smaller than the waterdrop notch we’ve been seeing on smartphones from the likes of Oppo and Vivo. Since Samsung has already hinted at such a display design, we’re going to see it on a device sooner than later. That’s why the leaked panel doesn’t seem to be a fake.

As far as specs are concerned, speculation is rife that the upcoming Galaxy A8s could sport a Snapdragon 660 SoC, though a Snapdragon 670 or even 675 cannot be ruled out either. The handset is also supposed to feature a triple camera setup at the back, and 6GB of RAM coupled with 128GB of storage. The launch of the Galaxy A8s is believed to be some time in early 2019. The flagship Samsung Galaxy S10 will also be likely revealed in January or February next year.
