After announcing the Galaxy A9 with 6-inch full HD display back in December last year, Samsung seems to be working on a “Pro” variant as well. Carrying a model number of SM-A9100 and a price tag of Rs 24,179, the smartphone was recently spotted on India s import-export site Zauba when it entered for testing in India. Of course, the price tag is for the prototype and has no bearing to the commercial price, which is likely to be higher. The alleged smartphone was also put through paces on GFXBench, which sheds some light on its specifications and features. Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro specifications and features: According to the GFXBench listing, the smartphone boasts a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display. Having a Pro model with smaller 5.5-inch display compared to 6-inch display on the Galaxy A9 (2016) doesn t make sense. So we will have to wait until more details emerge. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm s 1.8GHz octa-core SoC with Cortex-A72 cores, which could likely be the Snapdragon 652. While the Galaxy A9 is equipped with 3GB of RAM, the pro version gets a slight bump to 4GB and internal storage of 32GB, of which 25GB is user accessible.
In the photography department, GFXBench logs a 15-megapixel primary camera, whereas the front camera seems to be 7-megapixels.The Galaxy A9 Pro was spotted running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS.
While no other information is available as of now, the smartphone could be headed for an official announcement in the coming weeks. We will keep you posted as and when more details emerge.
