Samsung has commenced pre-orders for the Galaxy A9 Star and Galaxy A9 Star Lite smartphones in China. Following weeks of rumors and leaks revealing key specifications and features, Samsung has confirmed the smartphone will launch in China on June 15. The devices are currently available for pre-order and the advanced orders are set to close on June 14, a day before the two smartphones are released. The Galaxy A9 Star and Galaxy A9 Star Lite are new additions to the Galaxy A-series lineup and bring with it Samsung’s Infinity Display design. The Galaxy A9 Star features a 6.28-inch Full HD+ display while the Galaxy A9 Star Lite has a smaller 6-inch display. Both the phones feature displays with a resolution of 2240 x 1080 pixels and a taller 18.5:9 aspect ratio similar to the flagship Galaxy S series. The Galaxy A9 Star is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. It also supports expandable storage up to 256GB via microSD card slot. It also sports dual rear camera setup with a combination of 24-megapixel and 16-megapixel sensors. At the front, there is another 24-megapixel shooter for selfies. The Galaxy A9 Star offers a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor placed below the camera module.
The Galaxy A9 Star Lite is a more affordable version and compromises in key areas to reach the price. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It features a 24-megapixel selfie camera like its larger sibling but has a more modest rear camera setup. There is a combination of 16-megapixel and a 5-megapixel sensors at the rear of Galaxy A9 Star Lite.

The Galaxy A9 Star and Galaxy A9 Star Lite run Android 8.0 Oreo based on Samsung Experience 9.0. The smartphones support WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and feature rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy A9 Star is backed by a 3,700mAh battery while the Galaxy A9 Star Lite is supported by a 3,500mAh battery.

According to GSMArena, the Galaxy A9 Star is priced at RMB 3,500 (around Rs 36,600) while the Galaxy A9 Star Lite is priced lower than its sibling. The Galaxy A9 Star will be available in Black and White while the Galaxy A9 Star Lite will retail in Black and Blue colors.
