Samsung becomes the newest smartphone maker to copy Huawei‘s gradient design for smartphones. Huawei made gradient design a new trend when it launched the P20 and P20 Pro series of smartphones in March this year. The gradient design is one where the color shifts based on its position and light being reflected on the surface. In the case of Huawei P20 and P20 Pro, the gradient color shifts from blue to purple and the Chinese smartphone maker likes to call it Aurora Blue and Morpha Aurora. Chinese smartphone makers including Oppo and Vivo have followed on the footsteps of Huawei to offer devices with gradient design. The Galaxy A9 Star was released early this year in Black and White finish and now, customers in China will also be able to get variant with gradient finish. The Galaxy A9 Star’s gradient design features pink and purple gradient hue on the back of the device. The new finish seems exclusive to the Chinese market and there is no word on it being available in other markets as well.
Samsung Galaxy A9 Star Specifications and Price
Samsung Galaxy A9 Star features a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2220 x 1080 pixels. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s mid-tier Snapdragon 660 octa-core CPU coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The Galaxy A9 Star was recently launched in India as Galaxy A8 Star but it does not come with a gradient design.
The Galaxy A9 Star features dual rear camera setup comprising of 24-megapixel main sensor with f/1.7 aperture and 16-megapixel secondary sensor with f/1.7 aperture. At the front, it gets a 24-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and runs Android Oreo with Samsung‘s Experience 9.0 UI on top of it.

The Galaxy A9 Star supports connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and 4G LTE. The device packs a 3,700mAh battery and it currently retails in black and white colors globally. The Galaxy A9 Star is priced at $470 for the global model and in India, the Galaxy A8 Star is priced at Rs 34,990.
