Samsung is known to launch new versions of its existing models, which come with improved specifications and features. One such smartphone due to be launched is the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime (2016). Samsung had launched the Galaxy Grand Prime back in 2014, which debuted as a selfie-centric smartphone. After almost two years, the 2016 version of the Galaxy Grand Prime is in the works and it has been showing up online for quite some time now. The smartphone was first spotted on India s import-export site Zauba bearing the model number SM-G532F. It was then spotted on benchmarking websites GFXBench and Geekbench, and more recently on the US FCC. The upcoming Galaxy Grand Prime (2016) has been spotted on Geekbench yet again, further revealing some key specifications. The listing shows that the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime (2016) will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It will be powered by a MediaTek MT6737T quad-core processor clocked at 1.44GHz, paired with 2GB of RAM. Other than that, there are no new specifications revealed. But based on what we have come across before, the smartphone is set to feature a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera up front.
When compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Grand Prime (2016) brings in improvements to the display, processor, RAM, camera and software. The Galaxy Grand Prime was powered by a Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, but this time around Samsung seems to be opting for a MediaTek processor. The RAM of the smartphone is also increasing from 1GB to 2GB. On the software front, the upcoming smartphone runs on Android Marshmallow, as opposed to Android KitKat on its predecessor.
Samsung is also said to be working on a 2016 version of the Galaxy A8 which was launched last year in August. The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) was recently spotted on AnTuTu which revealed that the smartphone would feature a full HD display although the size was not mentioned. It will be powered by Samsung Exynos 7420 SoC along with Mali T760 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The smartphone will come with onboard storage of 64GB. The listing further shows that the smartphone will sport a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. It will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
