If a new leak is to be believed, Samsung is looking at overhauling its budget product lineups. A leak from China claims that Samsung could be introducing two new budget lineups, called Galaxy P and Galaxy R.
The leak about the two new budget lineups comes from leakster @MMDDJ_. But what really catches one’s attention is the second part of the leak. The leakster claims that apart from introducing the new lineups, Samsung is also likely to discontinue the existing Galaxy J, Galaxy C, and the Galaxy On series.
It is currently unclear exactly what markets will see these changes. In India, Samsung’s Galaxy J series makes for the bulk of sales. In fact, a recent report revealed how Samsung had sold over 20 lakh units of the Galaxy J6 and the Galaxy J8 in India. Both these smartphones were attracting nearly 50,000 customers every day.
In such a scenario, it seems to make little sense for Samsung to discontinue the lineup. Instead, this overhaul in the budget lineups could be for the China market, where Samsung has fallen way behind the local rivals. Still, as with such leaks, we would advise readers to take this information with the proverbial pinch of salt.

Coincidentally, this isn’t the only report we have come across recently about Samsung’s overhauling its product lineup. A report from last week claimed that the South Korean giant could be looking at merging its Galaxy Note and Galaxy S flagship lineups. The reason? The company seemingly feels there is very little differentiating the devices in the two lineups.
