The 2017 iteration of the Galaxy J series is yet to be unveiled by Samsung. The expected smartphones in the series include the Galaxy J3, Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7. All three smartphones have been showing up online since the end of 2016, and a launch is expected soon enough. The Galaxy J3 (2017) bearing model number SM-J330 has showed up on benchmarking website GFXBench yet again giving us an idea on its latest specifications. According to the GFXBench listing, the Galaxy J3 (2017) features a 5-inch HD display offering resolution of 720×1280 pixels. At the core of the smartphone is a quad-core Exynos 7570 SoC clocked at 1.4GHz, and paired with Mali-T720 GPU. In terms of memory, the Galaxy J3 (2017) comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. In the photography department, the smartphone sports a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.
While the above set of specifications does match previous reports, there are some differences. For instance, past rumors suggested a Snapdragon quad-core processor for the Galaxy J3 (2017) and Android 6.0 Marshmallow as the OS. The camera specs also differ as compared to previous reports which said that the smartphone features a 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel selfie camera. These frequent stops made by the Galaxy J3 (2017) hint at an imminent launch. The Galaxy J3 (2016) was launched more than a year back. Samsung had launched the Galaxy J3 (2016) in India last March, priced at Rs 8,990. The smartphone s highlight was the S bike mode which provides users with options to alter notification alerts when riding a bike. Recalling its specifications, the Galaxy J3 (2016) featured a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB internal storage along with microSD card slot. The rest of the features included an 8-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 2,600mAh battery, and the smartphone ran on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
