At an event in Mumbai, Samsung has unveiled four new smartphones in India, the Galaxy J6, Galaxy J8, Galaxy A6 and the Galaxy A6+. All smartphones are placed in different price points, but come with some common features. The key highlight of the smartphones is the edge-to-edge infinity display, with the only thing changing between these phones is the screen size and resolution. Also, all four smartphones run Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box, with Samsung experience layer on top.
Samsung has also added Dolby Atmos audio enhancement in these phones for the immersive audio listening experience on earphones, when listening to music or watching movies and videos. There is Samsung Pay Mini for cashless payments using UPI, Paytm or Mobikwik, and you also get Amazon India and Jabong powered Samsung Mall. You also get Bixby Vision, Bixby Home and Bixby Reminder features, but sadly, no Bixby voice.
Samsung has also included a new feature called Chat over video, which it says is Made in India, but most importantly, Made for India. When using apps like YouTube, VLC Player or Samsung’s stock video player, and you get a text message or WhatsApp message, you can continue watching video, while replying to messages. A small window will appear as an overlay, allowing you to text while also watching the video, uninterrupted.
Samsung Galaxy J6, J8, A6, A6+ price in India and availability
The Galaxy J6 is the most affordable of the lot, and it is priced at Rs 13,990 (32GB) and Rs 16,490 (64GB) variants, whereas the Galaxy J8 will cost you Rs 18,990. The Galaxy A6, on the other hand is priced at Rs 21,990 (32GB), and Rs 22,990 (64GB). Lastly, the Galaxy A6+ will set you back by Rs 25,990.
The Galaxy J6, A6 and A6+ will go on sale stating May 22 via Flipkart, Paytm Mall, Samsung Online Store and retail outlets. The Galaxy J8, on the other hand, will go on sale a little later via Amazon India starting June 20. Samsung is also offering Rs 3,000 cash back via Paytm mall on the A-series smartphones, and Rs 1,500 cash back on J-series smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy J6 specifications and features
The Samsung Galaxy J6 features a 5.6-inch HD+ (1480×720 pixels) Super AMOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by an Exynos 7870 SoC paired with 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage options.
In the photography department, it comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front camera with LED flash. To keep things ticking is a 3,000mAh battery, and connectivity options include dual SIM card slots, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and 4G LTE with VoLTE.

Samsung Galaxy J8 specifications and features
The Galaxy J8, features a 6-inch HD+ display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. In the photography department, it comes with dual rear cameras – a 16-megapixel primary sensor, and a 5-megapixel secondary depth sensor. Up front, there is a 16-megapixel front camera with LED flash. With 3,500mAh battery, connectivity options include dual SIM card slots, Bluetooth, 4G LTE with VoLTE and GPS.
Samsung Galaxy A6, Galaxy A6+ specifications and features
The Galaxy A6 features a 5.6-inch Super AMOLED display with 720x1480pixels resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, is an octa-core chipset clocked at 1.6GHz, paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, or 4GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage. A microSD card slot for further expansion is also present.
In the photography department, the Galaxy A6 is equipped with a 16-megapixel f/1.7 aperture rear camera, and a 16-megapixel f/1.9 front aperture camera with an LED flash. It is fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery.
The Galaxy A6+, on the other hand, is equipped with a larger 6-inch screen with 1080×2220 resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is 1.8GHz octa-core chipset paired with the same RAM and storage choices as the Galaxy A6. For shutterbugs, there’s a dual-camera setup – a combination of 16-megapixel f/1.7 sensor and 5-megapixel f/1.9 sensor. Up front, there’s a 24-megapixel f/1.9 sensor with a dedicated LED flash. It is fueled by a slightly thicker 3,500mAh battery.
