Samsung Galaxy J8 to go on sale in India on June 28

With the Galaxy J8, Samsung is bringing its Infinity Display to the mid-range segment.

Towards the end of last month, Samsung launched a bunch of smartphones in India. These included the Galaxy J6, Galaxy J8, Galaxy A6, and the Galaxy A6+. At the time, Samsung had mentioned that the Galaxy J8 would be available sometime in July, but now it seems we won’t have to wait that long.

Samsung India has taken to social media to tease the launch of the Galaxy J8 in India. A tweet posted by the company reveals that the smartphone will be going on sale in just two days – June 28. The tweet posted yesterday reads, “Give the ‘Infinity Touch’ to your picture’s background with the #BackgroundBlurShape of the new 16+5MP #DualRearCamera on #GalaxyJ8. Only 3 days to go for the big launch. Stay tuned.”

The smartphone is priced at Rs 18,990, and buyers will be able to choose from blue, black, and gold colors. Buyers also stand a chance to get a cashback of Rs 1,500 when buying the device using either an ICICI Bank card or Paytm. Additionally, Samsung will also be offering a one-time screen replacement.

As far as specifications are concerned, the Samsung Galaxy J8 flaunts a 6-inch HD+ (1480×720 pixels) Infinity display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. There is also 64GB storage on offer, which can be expanded using a microSD card.

For photography, the device is equipped with a dual-camera setup (16-megapixel+5-megapixel) at the back. This setup, not only allows you to click photos with a blurred background, but also reshape the blurred lights into different patterns like hearts, butterflies, stars and more. For selfies, there’s a 16-megapixel snapper up front along with a LED flash.

The rest of the features include a 3,500mAh battery, fingerprint sensor, face unlock, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G VoLTE support, Bluetooth, and GPS. On the software front, the device runs Android 8.0 Oreo.
