A recent report had claimed that Samsung is working on two new smartphones with model numbers SM-M205F and SM-M305F. These phones are expected to belong to the new Galaxy M series of smartphones. The SM-M205F handset has appeared on Geekbench to reveal its key specifications. This handset may release in the market with the Galaxy M2 moniker. The Geekbench listing of SM-M205F, first spotted by MySmartPrice, has revealed that it is powered by Samsung s Exynos 7885 chipset. It is the same 14nm SoC that powers some other Samsung phones such as the Galaxy A7 (2018), Galaxy A8 (2018), and Galaxy A8 Plus (2018). The listing also reveals that the SoC will be paired with 3GB of RAM, and the device will running Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. In the single core benchmarking test of Geekbench, the SM-M205F handset scores 1,319. In the multi-core test, it scores 4,074.
Rumors are rife that the new Galaxy M series will be replacing Samsung s other mid-range lineup such as Galaxy C, Galaxy J, and the Galaxy On. The Galaxy M series phones are speculated to feature LCD displays to keep the overall costs low. The SM-M205F Galaxy M2 is expected to arrive with 32GB and 64GB storage options. Probably, these variants may include 3GB and 4GB of RAM respectively.
The SM-M305, on the other hand, may debut as Galaxy M3. It could be an upper mid-range phone since it is expected to arrive in 64GB and 128GB storage choices. These storage variants may respectively feature 4GB and 6GB of RAM.
There is no information available on the other specifications or the launch timeframes for the Galaxy M2 and Galaxy M3. Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy M phones in Asia, EMEA, and some European countries.
