As tradition goes, the Galaxy Note 5 is expected to be unveiled at IFA in September. But before that happens, SlashGear has got its hands on the early photos of the forthcoming phablet, and at first glance it looks a lot like this year’s Galaxy S6. The photos were anonymously sent to the publication while being circulated to auction sites internationally. If these are the real deal, then the Galaxy Note 5 is eerily similar to the Galaxy S6, albeit with a few changes. The USB that sits in the center for the Galaxy S6, seems to have been shifted to the side. Also Read - Galaxy S21 FE to support 25W charging but will Samsung put it in the box?
From what we have heard so far, the Galaxy Note 5 might feature a 2K or a 4K Super AMOLED display, and is likely to be powered by an octa-core Exynos 7422 processor or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset paired with 3GB RAM. Furthermore, it will sport a 13-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front snapper, come bundled with a S Pen, and will pack a 3,220mAh battery. The report also reiterates that Samsung is working on another smartphone – an Edge variant if you will – but it will come without the S Pen. The Galaxy Note Edge released last year had an S Pen, and apparently the company is not revealing its successor this year. Instead it is building a larger Galaxy S6 Edge variant – Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, and will release it alongside the Galaxy Note 5.
It is expected to feature a 5.4-inch or 5.5-inch Super AMOLED dual-edge curved display and a Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 3GB RAM. It is likely to offer 32GB of internal storage, a 16-megapixel primary camera with OIS, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
As for the big unveil, it was reported a few days ago that Samsung is looking at a July release to get a headstart over the next generation iPhones, but Samsung Mobile president JK Shin has denied any such possibility. IFA 2015 is scheduled to begin on September 4 in Berlin this year, and we expect both these smartphones to be unveiled then.
