Samsung has now officially announced that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on August 13. The event is set to take place at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York, and will be live streamed on YouTube as well. Even though Samsung hasn’t officially said anything yet, it is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus during this event. The event is scheduled to begin at 11AM ET (8.30PM IST). This is a slight change in tradition, when it comes to Samsung, which is hosting its Unpacked event a month before IFA. It is speculated that the company has strategically decided to unveil its Galaxy Note 5 early to fend off the iPhone sales that will begin post its traditional September unveil. The invite image shows off the edged display coming with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus testifying the launch of the smartphone further. It is said to be the larger variant of the Galaxy S6 Edge, in terms of design, and is expected to feature a QHD display, 2.1GHz Exynos 7420 64-bit processor, Mali T760 GPU, 16-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 32GB internal storage, and will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. The Galaxy Note 5 has been subjected to many leaks as well, and from what we have heard so far, it is expected to feature a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, Exynos or Snapdragon processor depending upon the market, 4GB of RAM, 16-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, and a 3,220mAh battery. It is also expected to purge one of Galaxy S6’s biggest sins by featuring a microSD card slot.
