It’s widely believed that Samsung is skipping a generation to bring parity between its Galaxy Note and Galaxy S series. Samsung announced the first Galaxy S series in 2010, while the first Galaxy Note was launched a year later in 2011. This the reason why the Galaxy Note smartphones seem to be a generation behind, despite being on par on technology.
Based on all the rumors we have come across so far, the Galaxy Note 7 is gearing up to be a massive upgrade over last year’s phablet. For one Samsung is believed to be toying with the idea of two Galaxy Note 7 variants — one with a flat display, the other with a curved display.
A recent report also claimed that Samsung could finally bring an iris scanner to one of its smartphones. The company has been working on the possibility since 2012, and is finally believed to have reached the point where it can embed it into a device. An iris scanner offers much more security as it can recognize 266 traits, as opposed to 40 traits by the fingerprint scanner.
