Over the past few months we ve come across multiple rumors about the upcoming features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Right from skipping the Note 6 name to features such as water and dust resistance, USB Type-C port and more, the next Galaxy Note phablet is turning out to be a massive upgrade. Now, a new report says the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will feature an iris scanner for biometric authentication. The iris camera modules will be supplied by Korean camera firm Patron, SamMobile reports. The iris scanner can recognize 266 traits compared to 40 traits on the fingerprint scanner, thus offering an enhanced security. Samsung has been trying to implement the iris scanning technology since 2012. Now, it seems like Samsung is finally ready to introduce the technology on its consumer devices. The company recently launched a Galaxy Tab Iris that featured an iris scanner placed above the rear camera. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 specifications, features: The next Galaxy Note phablet is likely to feature a 5.8-inch Slim RGB QHD dual edge display and could be powered by Snapdragon 823 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM. On the storage front, it is rumored to come in 32GB, 64GB and 256GB onboard options.
The Galaxy Note 7 is likely to be equipped with the same 12-megapixel rear camera with dual-pixel technology, same as the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. It could also borrow other features of the Galaxy S7 such as water and dust resistance and heart rate scanner. With 4,000mAh battery and connectivity features such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth and GPS, the phablet is rumored to run Android N out of the box. It is likely to come with USB Type-C connector.
An earlier rumor also hinted at an interesting feature of the S-Pen, which will have the ability to write on the curved screen. The Galaxy Note 7 Unpacked event is rumored to take place on August 2 in New York. While the pricing and availability details are scarce at the moment, more leaks are expected to pour in as the launch event draws closer.
