Samsung Galaxy’s Note 7 was put through a drop test to see if the much talked about Gorilla Glass 5 is worth it or not. While the front-facing display survives the drop test without a scratch or crack, the sides and the back failed to do so.

Samsung s Note series has never failed to impress and its flagship smartphone the Galaxy Note 7 is already winning hearts globally. Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 7 earlier this month for Rs 59,900. As is a norm these days, the Galaxy Note 7 has been put through a brutal drop test to check it’s survival capabilities. Before we move forward, there’s one thing worth revisiting. The new Galaxy Note 7’s 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display is protected by Corning’s latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The protection is at front and back as well. Since the Galaxy Note 7 is the first in the world to feature Gorilla Glass 5, it makes the drop text even more exciting. Corning claims the Gorilla Glass 5 is capable of surviving drops from up to up to 5.2 feet. To put the claim to test, the YouTuber started out by dropping the device from a height of around 3 to 3.2 feet approximately.

The Galaxy Note 7 was dropped three times on its back, side and front. The platform for the drop test was concrete cemented floor which would cause the most damage. When the Note 7 was dropped on its back, it suffered a hard crack on the bottom edge, a hairline crack just above it with slight damages on the top edge and the aluminum sides too. The side drop of the Note 7 resulted in the coming off of the S Pen and also in scratches around the S Pen area.

The final and most-awaited drop was the front side which results in no scratch or crack on the 5.7-inch display. The top left of the front side however suffers a slight scratch but other than that the display remains beautifully intact and the Note 7 survives the front-facing drop like a boss.
