Samsung is all set to bring its new Galaxy Note 8 smartphone to India. The company has now sent out media invites for the launch event on September 12 in India. The invite caption reads “Do bigger things” with a GIF showing off the S Pen. The company will also be live streaming the event and you can watch it here. However, what’s interesting to note is that Samsung chose the same day to launch the Galaxy Note 8 in India when Apple’s 2017 flagship smartphone, the iPhone 8 is scheduled to launch on the same day. Coming back to the Galaxy Note 8, Samsung has brought the much-needed upgrades to the table. To begin with, the Galaxy Note 8 is Samsung s first smartphone to feature dual camera set-up at the back with portrait mode and dual optical image stabilization (OIS). Just as Samsung tagline ‘Do bigger things’ goes, the screen on the Galaxy Note 8 spreads across the edges, and leaves the slimmest of bezel on the top and bottom end. Apart from the phone, the S Pen has been the heart of the Note-series smartphones. With the Galaxy Note 8, the S Pen is back with some interesting features. It helps you write memos on the phone s lock screen. Apart from that the S Pen also comes with translate function, all you need to do is hover the S Pen over a piece of text, and translate it on the go. Coming to the technical specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 comes with Infinitiy Display that is also present in the Samsung Galaxy S8. It sports a 6.3inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. While the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC, in India it is likely to be powered by a 64-bit Exynos 8895 octa-core chipset. It comes with 6GB RAM and three storage variants of 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. All the three storage models offer storage expansion up to additional 256GB via microSD card. On the photography front, the Galaxy Note 8 is equipped with a dual-camera setup on the rear panel. It uses a pair of 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a telephoto lens and comes with OIS on both lenses. Upfront, it has an 8-megapixel sensor with autofocus. It houses a 3,300mAh non-removable battery with fast charging support, both wired and wireless. For connectivity, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G, VoLTE and USB Type-C port. On the software front, it runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1. The smartphone will be available in Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Deep Sea Blue and Maple Gold color options.
