It is a known strategy among smartphone makers to add a new color variant in the form of mid-cycle refresh. Apple recently launched (PRODUCT) RED variant of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus as a mid-cycle refresh. The introduction of new color variant tends to bring interest in the otherwise older smartphone. It also tends to serve smartphone brands with opportunity to drive new buyers towards an older model with new color selling at a cheaper price. To recall, the Galaxy Note 8 was launched in August last year and is getting a new color option after nearly eight months. The new model just brings a fresh coat of paint without changing anything on the hardware front of the device.
