The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has been launched and is set to go on sale in select markets starting September 15. However, there is still no word on the phablet’s availability in India. The smartphone is a successor to the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 and boasts a number of improvements, ranging from Infinity Display to dual camera setup and enhanced S Pen. Now, if the latest rumors are to be believed, the phablet might just go for sale in the country even before the Apple iPhone 8 makes its global debut. BGR India learned from industry sources that Samsung is looking at mid-September as the time frame for launching the Galaxy Note 8 in India, however, the company is yet to arrive at any specific date. Meanwhile, there are certain media reports suggesting the India launch could take place on September 11, one day before the speculated launch of Apple’s anniversary edition iPhone 8. It is also worth mentioning that Amazon India’s homepage had a link to the launch event of the Galaxy Note 8 on August 23. With the Galaxy Note 7 failing to make it to the Indian market, the demand for the new phablet could be high. However, owing to the hazards and global safety concerns about the previous model, it is difficult to indicate if it will receive the same amount of adoration as before. The Twitterati has already raised its set of concerns soon after the launch of the Galaxy Note 8, with some even considering getting themselves a fire extinguisher if they buy the phone.
On the other hand, Samsung is trying to regain consumer faith by putting the battery of the Galaxy Note 8 through rigorous testing and also going to the extent of changing its battery suppliers. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 specifications and features
Coming to the specifications of the Galaxy Note 8; it is the first Samsung smartphone to boast a dual camera module. It features a 6.3-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display, with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by Qualcomm octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC or an Exynos 8895 SoC, depending on the launch market. It includes 6GB of RAM with three storage choices of 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. All models offer storage expansion up to additional 256GB via microSD card.
As for the optics, there is a pair of 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens. Both the lenses support Optical Image Stabilization, making it the first such setup in its category. Up front, it houses an 8-megapixel sensor. Fueling the Galaxy Note 8 is a 3,300mAh non-removable battery with fast charging support, both wired and wireless. For connectivity, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G, VoLTE and USB Type-C port. On the software front, it runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1.
