Samsung is said to unveil the Galaxy Note 8 tomorrow, August 23 at an event in the New York City. The launch event kicks off at 11:00AM EDT (8:30PM IST). The company sent press invites earlier this month, which confirmed the existence and launch of the much-anticipated smartphone this year. From the alleged images and renders of the Galaxy Note 8 seen so far, the phablet appears a lot like the flagship Galaxy S8 series, only with a bigger footprint. According to the image shared by tipster Evan Blass, the Galaxy Note 8 has almost no bezels on its left and right side with only thin bezels seen at the top and bottom. The phablet is said to come with a 6.3-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. As per The Investors report, the Galaxy Note 8 will use a Pressure Sensitive Display similar to what has been seen on Apple iPhone 6S and above.
Samsung ditched the physical home button on Galaxy S8 series earlier this year, and Galaxy Note 8 is no different. Only physical buttons that can be seen on the phablet are the volume rocker, power/unlock button and the dedicated button to pull up Bixby assistant from any app on the device. The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to come with a dual-camera setup on the rear panel with a slightly different position for the fingerprint scanner. The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to hit global market with Exynos 8895 SoC, while select markets will get the Snapdragon 835 SoC variant. It will essentially come with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, which can be further expanded via microSD slot. Reports also suggest that the company can announce an another Galaxy Note 8 model with 8GB RAM.
In terms of optics, the Galaxy Note 8 is believed to become the first Samsung device boasting a dual-camera setup. The company earlier this week teased a few camera samples demonstrating the 3X optical zoom of the dual-lens system on the phablet. In addition, the pair of 12-megapixel lenses are also said to feature Super Night Mode for advanced low-light photography. Up front, an 8-megapixel sensor of aperture f/1.7 is expected.
Other expected features include a 3,300mAh battery, USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G and VoLTE. The Galaxy Note 8 will be accompanied by S-Pen, and it will run on Android 7.1 Nougat-based TouchWiz UX out-of-the-box. Samsung will reportedly make the Galaxy Note 8 available in four color variants including the earlier tipped Deep Sea Blue. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 price
The high-end phablet is very likely to be priced on the expensive end of the spectrum. If latest reports are to go by, the Galaxy Note 8 will be priced at around $940 (approximately Rs 61,000) for the 64GB storage+6GB RAM variant. On the other hand, earlier reports suggest the smartphone might start from $1,000 (approximately Rs 75,000). The smartphone is expected to go on sale starting September 15, while the company is said to take pre-orders from September 11.
