With the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ already out, the rumor mills are now moving on the Galaxy Note 8. Analyst Ming Chi Kuo of KGI Securities claims that the Galaxy Note 8 could be Samsung s first smartphone with a dual-camera setup. In a recent note to investors, shared by AppleInsider, Kuo said that much like the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 could feature a dual-camera setup, which would include a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Both the camera sensors would offer optical image stabilization paired with six-element lenses. Coincidentally, this setup is also seen on the Xiaomi Mi 6, which was launched earlier today. The dual rear camera setup on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 would be the ‘most important upgrade’ to look for and also ‘much better’ than the one on Apple iPhone 7 Plus, stated Kuo. If the analyst is to be believed, the dual-camera array on Galaxy Note 8 could potentially match the camera performance on the rumored iPhone 8.
Notably, this is not Samsung‘s first experience with dual rear camera combination. The company tested the same on Galaxy S8 series, but it never made to the final design. The company didn’t find the real value for it yet , Android Central reports. Other noteworthy features on Samsung Galaxy Note 8 could include a 6.4-inch Quad-HD OLED display with a similar full-screen design as seen on Galaxy S8 series. The premium phablet is said to be powered by Samsung’s home-grown Exynos 8895 SoC, and could also feature iris recognition. According to Kuo, market feedback to Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ has been better than expected since their launch. This is attributed to big-screen design and top-of-the-line specifications. Corresponding to this, Samsung Galaxy S8 series pre-orders crossed over 1 million in South Korea within 10 days and the flagship devices are all set to go on sale in the US later this week. In India, both smartphones will be going on sale from May 5 via online and offline channels.
