The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with the much-hyped dual rear camera setup will be officially unveiled next month. Even though we are just a few weeks away from the August 23 Unpacked event, more details about the smartphone have continued to pour in. According to analyst Ming Chi Kuo, the dual camera on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will allow users to capture images with up to 3X optical zoom. According to the reputed KGI Securities analyst, the Galaxy Note 8’s primary camera setup will equip a combination of 13-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor. Kuo also outlined that the camera sensors have been designed by Samsung itself under its imaging brand, ISOCELL. The dual-rear camera setup is also said to come with optical image stabilization. To put in perspective, the Galaxy Note 8 is the next-in-line phablet to launch this year with the dual-camera setup. This goes without saying that the South Korean giant aims to take on the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, which also supports optical zoom. Also, the Galaxy Note 8 will also compete with the likes of OnePlus 5, Honor 8 Pro and Mi 6 in terms of dual camera performance. OnePlus launched the OnePlus 5 recently with a pair of 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and telephoto lens enabling up to 2X ‘optical’ zoom. The OnePlus 5 flagship also skipped the optical image stabilization. This does give the Galaxy Note 8 an upper hand.
From the images and leaks surfaced so far, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will feature a similar placement for the dual camera setup as the primary camera setup on the Galaxy S8. However, addressing previous concerns the company is expected to place the LED flash in between the camera and the fingerprint scanner. The phablet will sport a large 6.3-inch Quad HD+ display and will be powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC. While an another variant will be powered by company’s proprietary Exynos 8895 SoC. The Galaxy Note 8 is said to house a 3,300 mAh battery with Quick Charge. The upcoming phablet will also bear improved rating for waterproofing and dust resistance.
