Samsung is usually known for the material that it puts in its flagship smartphone lineup including both the Galaxy S series and the Galaxy Note series. However, regardless of the reputation of the company, with the launch of its latest flagship smartphone in the market, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, it is essential to test the durability of its latest offering. The durability test is essential to ensure that Samsung has managed to maintain the build quality of its flagship lineup while improving the design. This will also ensure that the company has managed to improve upon the design and looks of the smartphone without cutting any corners. To answer all these, YouTuber JerryRigEverything posted a video where he put the Note 9 though his famous torture test. As part of the torture test, Jerry puts any given smartphone through a scratch test on the front display as well as the back of the device. As noticed in previous videos, the test also checks important portions such as the front display or the speakers for any quality defect effect. Other tests also include fire and the video pointed out that the Note 9 is really tough scoring top class marks when it came to the bent test. The video also pointed out that in the scratch test, the device manages to hold similar to any other smartphone on the market at the time of writing. It also pointed out that it was easy to break the new S Pen but that does not really affect how the smartphone functions. However, even after passing almost all test tests with success, the video pointed out a weakness in the Note 9. The video noted that it was very easy for users to remove the buttons from the Note 9.
JerryRigEverything host Zack pointed out that the buttons on the Note 9 can be easily popped off but stated that they were easy to replace. He clarified that the buttons won t pop off in day-to-day usage or in the case if a potential Note 9 user drops their device. Considering that the Note 9 is one of the most premium devices on the market at the time of writing, it is surprising for Samsung to have missed something as fundamental and critical as the primary buttons of the smartphone.
