Galaxy Note 9 is the latest flagship from Samsung and there is no doubt that it is packed with hardware that is capable of breaking previously set benchmarks. Now, after doing an intensive test on the Galaxy Note 9 camera, DxOmark has given the smartphone a score of 103, which makes it the second-best smartphone for photography right behind the Huawei P20 Pro, alongside the HTC U12+.

This also means that the dual rear camera setup on the Galaxy Note 9 is superior to most of the other flagship smartphones, including the Galaxy S9+, which boasts a similar camera setup. To quickly recall, the Galaxy Note 9 sports dual 12-megapixel sensors at the back, out of which one carries a wide-angle lens that offers a 2x zoom. Not just that, the camera also features variable aperture of f/1.5-2.4 to deliver great shots in different lighting situations. Additionally, the sensor also supports dual-pixel autofocus and can shoot 960fps super slow-motion videos at HD resolution.

According to DxOmark’s report, the 103 score the Galaxy Note 9 has managed to get is a combined score for both taking pictures and videos. While only considering the picture performance, the smartphone scores 107, which also makes it the best for still photography thanks to its ability to deliver good results across a range of lighting situations.

Additionally, one of the best qualities of the smartphone’s camera it its quick focus and accurate Bokeh effects. The camera is also praised for its detail retention and noise reduction in various conditions. Among the very few cons, the camera is said to present inaccurate exposure levels and add a ghosting effect while using HDR sometimes.

Everything looks up to mark on the video front as well, where the Galaxy Note 9 manages to get a score of 94. The key highlights over here also include its ability to autofocus quickly, stabilize the video and keep noise under control. The camera however, is said lose out on detail under low light conditions.
