Mark this one under rumor, but we are hearing the Samsung Galaxy Note launch has been delayed in India. Apparently, the smartphone/mini-tablet was scheduled for a mid-October launch here but it has now been pushed to November. The Note features a 5.3-inch WXGA display (1280×800 pixels), a 1.4GHz dual-core processor and comes with a stylus (‘S Pen’) to scribble notes or indulge in some doodles. Its 8.0 MP rear camera can shoot videos in 1080p resolution and is accompanied by a 2.0 MP front camera for video calls. I saw the Galaxy Note at Samsung’s event yesterday and to be honest, I liked the form-factor for reasons even I fail to understand. Logically, it is too big to be used as a smartphone and a little tiny to be used as a tablet in the traditional sense. It could just be my nerdy need to fill the non-existent gap between my smartphone and tablet (for days when I usually carry a bag just for my tablet). But yes, it got me a little excited. Of course, it would be interesting to see how Samsung prices the Galaxy Note, which probably could be the deal-breaker. Considering its specs, it will be priced between the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Tab 750 (Galaxy Tab 10.1), which would mean roughly around Rs 33,000 – at which one could easily get a great smartphone or a better tablet. Probably, the Galaxy Note is not meant for me at all, but I foresee many people slapping this huge device on their cheeks and using it primarily as their phone.
