In the last couple of weeks we have heard quite a bit about Samsung’s Galasxy S Duos 2 and just yesterday we saw the specs, price and photos of the device surface online. Earlier today, Samsung officially launched the mid-range device in India. It is listed on the Samsung India eStore for Rs 10,999, however there is no word on the availability of the device.
The specifications of the device are consistent with what leaked yesterday. The Galaxy S Duos 2 flaunts a 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor paired with 768MB of RAM. Other features included are a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, VGA front camera, 4GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB using a microSD card and a 1,500mAh battery, which the company claims is good enough to survive 8 hours of talktime and 280 hours on standby mode. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and on the software front, it runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean wrapped under Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.
Though the official price is Rs 10,999, the Galaxy S Duos 2 is available on certain Indian e-commerce sites for Rs 10,730, who also promise delivery in three business days. At this price tag, it will be up against the HTC Desire X, though it is also likely to face some stiff competition from quad-core Android smartphones from local vendors.
