Google recently made the Android 5.0 Lollipop update public and several companies including Sony, Motorola, and HTC have already shared the timeline and list of eligible devices that will be snagging the update.
Samsung too is expected to rollout the update to Galaxy S5 in December, as well as the Galaxy S4 in the following weeks. If you can’t wait to see what the latest iteration of Google’s mobile operating system will look on it, folks at SamMobile have posted a video as well several screenshots detailing the features. As we had anticipated before, the company has updated the TouchWiz UI to the Material Design guidelines. As seen in the video (embedded below), the custom skin has received the handy My Magazines and Popping Colors lockscreen effects.
Several of the system apps including phone, messaging, contacts, calculator, clock etc too have been updated keeping the new guidelines in mind. The publication also notes that the internal build they tried on the Galaxy S4 was nowhere close to a complete product. The phone was bugging and laggy, leaving a rather bad user experience. But at the same time, even this early build seemed faster and more responsive.
The improvements to TouchWiz skin and system apps will really be appreciated, as the current version of the TouchWiz skin looks outdated, which is understandable as it was designed with Halo guidelines.
