The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, which is believed to be the rugged variant of the company’s flagship smartphone, has once again surfaced online. A new video posted by TK Tech News shows off a dedicated hardware button placed along the volume key key. The report calls it an active key which can be customized to perform a function as per the user’s choice.
One can use this customization key for launching a particular app including the camera. Pressing the key briefly might launch the Activity Zone, which will be a hub for a variety of features like stopwatch and other handy apps. However, one can also use it for launching camera by pressing the key for longer. The key is customizable and can be mapped to any app. Also Read - Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go powered by Intel Jasper Lake Celeron processor revealed
Rumor has it that the Galaxy S5 Active’s camera will come with optical image stabilization (OIS), though considering that OIS was missing from the Galaxy S5 it seems very unlikely to happen. However, considering that the phone will be placed as rugged and waterproof variant of the Galaxy S5 to be suitable for travels and extreme outdoor environments, a better image stabilization would make more relevance on the phone.
