Since its launch last year, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has received numerous price cuts. Prices for the 2014 flagship is at an all-time low and what started out as Rs 51,500 smartphone, can now be bought for as low as Rs 14,999. At this price point, the smartphone offers a whole lot of value for money, and also takes on some popular choices like the Xiaomi Mi 4 and the OnePlus One. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is listed on Flipkart at an attractive price of Rs 22,999, and the e-commerce site is also offering an exchange scheme that brings the price further down to Rs 14,999. At this price, the Galaxy S5 almost seems like a steal considering the specifications and features it offers. Also Read - Galaxy A22 replaces M42 5G to become the cheapest 5G Samsung phone in India
If we were to compare some of the smartphones in this price range, the only ones coming to our mind are the Xiaomi Mi 4 and the OnePlus One. The 16GB variants are priced at Rs 14,999 and Rs 18,998 respectively.
While these flagship killers feature top-of-the-line specifications, the Galaxy S5 has the advantage of an expandable storage using a microSD card, 16-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording capabilities, fingerprint scanner, heart rate monitor, and IP67 certification making it resistant to water and dust.
The Galaxy S5 flaunts a 5.1-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and is powered by an Exynos 5 octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Also on offer is 16GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 64GB using a microSD card.
The smartphone also features a 16-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording capabilities, 2-megapixel selfie camera, and a 2,800mAh battery. On the software front, the Galaxy S5 has been updated to Android Lollipop.
It is yet another indication that Samsung is taking on Chinese companies that have taken the Indian smartphone market by storm with their top-of-the-line specifications and affordable price tag. Earlier this month, it also launched two mid-range smartphones called the Galaxy J5 and the Galaxy J7. Both 4G-capable smartphones boast decent set of specifications and are priced aggressively as well.
