The Galaxy S5 mini, as the name suggests, carries over design elements from the flagship Galaxy S5, but offers it in a compact package. In terms of specifications, the smartphone sports a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED HD (1280×720 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM.
Also included are 8-megapixel rear camera, 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, 16GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 64GB, and a 2,100mAh battery. Additional features include hear rate sensor, fingerprint scanner integrated into the home button and IP67 certification to make the device water and dust resistant.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, Bluetooth 4.0, IR Remote, Wi-Fi, and on the software front, it runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat wrapped under the company’s TouchWiz UI.
An increasing number of smartphone vendors are selling their products exclusively via e-commerce sites like Flipkart or Snapdeal. This model has been a huge success for companies like Motorola and Xiaomi, whose smartphones are only available on the online marketplace. While it is clear Samsung is planning on selling the Galaxy S5 mini via Flipkart, there is no currently word on when the smartphone would be available on brick and mortar stores.
