The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge may not boast water resistant capabilities, but what happens if you were to accidentally drop it in water? Apparently it can survive the drop with minimal damage. The folks at TechSmartt dunked the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge in a bowl of water and the flagship was able to survive up to 20 minutes. While that may not sound like a lot, it is quite impressive for a handset that is not designed to be impervious to water. After 20 minutes they took the Galaxy S6 Edge out of the bowl and dried it with a towel and also shook it to clear the excess amount of water. Water had however seeped inside the handset as the layer of condensation on the front camera proves. The smartphone was also stuck in a boot loop, but after some time it did boot.
While it proves that you shouldn t be taking the Galaxy S6 Edge with you for a swim, it does prove that it can survive an accidental drop in water provided you quickly pull it out.
Samsung s other flagship, the Galaxy S6, too was put to a torturous drop test over the weekend, and it survived. The test had a person smashing the handset on the floor, not once but multiple times. The phone is thrown with force even with the display facing down, and yet the smartphone survived.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 is now available for pre-order in India with prices starting from Rs 49,900 and will go on sale on April 10.
