Alongside the Galaxy Note 5, Samsung is also expected to unveil the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus at its Unpacked event tomorrow. It is essentially a larger variant of the Galaxy S6 Edge, and the phablet has been subjected to massive leaks so far. The 32GB variant of the phablet is speculated to be priced at $1012 (Rs 65,600 approximately). As for availability, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus may go up for preorder on August 21 till September 3. The company will start selling it from September 4.
Design wise, it is just essentially a large Galaxy S6 Edge. It’s got a similar dual-edged display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The placement of the volume buttons, power buttons, 3.5mm audio jack, speakers and microUSB remain the same. However, there is a slight change in the placement of the microphone, and the IR blaster also seems to missing.
Pretty much everything about the phablet is already known. Rumors suggest that the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will feature a 5.5-inch QHD display with a pixel density of 534 ppi pixels. Under the hood is an Exynos 7420 64-bit processor clocked at 2.1GHz and paired with Mali T760 GPU and 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. Rumors heavily point towards a 32GB storage variant, but we expect to see other storage variants too tomorrow.
On the camera front, there is a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The phablet will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box and comes with LTE support.
The score was leaked by Antutu and the smartphone performs optimally with a score of 68,345.
Remember that these are just speculations, and the official specs and price will be unveiled tomorrow at the event in New York. It is scheduled to begin at 8.30PM IST tomorrow.
