The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge retail box looks very different from the one we saw with the Galaxy S6. Besides the different design, the back of the box also shows few of the important specifications and features of the upcoming smartphone.
As per the retail box, the Galaxy S7 Edge will feature a 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, and will be powered by a 64-bit octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM. This is likely to be the variant powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 chipset.
Furthermore, the smartphone also features 32GB internal memory, a 12-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, a battery with wireless charging capabilities, and IP68 certification that makes it resistant to water and dust. Most of these specifications and features are in line with the leaks we have come across before.
On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android Marshmallow out of the box, wrapped under Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. A couple of hands-on videos have surfaced online giving a glimpse at the Galaxy S7 Edge’s UI, as well as confirming the presence of Moto X-like Active Display.
Earlier, the Galaxy S7 Edge was briefly mentioned on Samsung’s developer website, which hinted at two new UI modes — Edge Single and Edge Single Plus. The Single Plus mode essentially shows the notifications in tiled formats that look similar to the Metro UI on Windows Mobile. The hands-on video shows just how this Edge Single Plus UI mode looks.
Lastly, we have finally come across retail prices of the Galaxy S7 as well as the Galaxy S7 Edge. As per a bunch of alleged promotional materials shared by AllaboutSamsung, prices for the Galaxy S7 starts at 699 (Rs 53,400 approximately), while prices for the Galaxy S7 Edge starts from 799 (Rs 61,100 approximately). Both the smartphones will go on pre-orders starting tomorrow and will be available in certain markets around March 8.
