Unlike iPhones that get latest iOS updates on the same day when Apple releases, the situation with Android world is completely different. The fragmentation issue is ever lasting, and it is not likely to get resolved anytime soon. Take an example of the 2016 flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, they are still running on Android 7.0 Nougat, even though it has been around 7 months singe Google released Android 8.0 Oreo.
But that will change soon, and both the smartphones will soon be treated with Android Oreo goodness. According to a report on Nashvillechatterclass, both smartphones are due to get the update in 4-6 weeks. Samsung Turkey has revealed that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will be updated on May 18. Previously, the phones were due to get an update on April 13, and the date has now been moved, but let’s hope this time users do get the update.
Besides the flagship smartphones, report also reveals that the Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017) and the Galaxy A7 (2017) will also be updated to Android Oreo, and the update is due on June 1. The previous report claimed that these phones will get the update on May 25.

It is important to note that the release timelines are only for Turkey, and doesn’t necessarily mean that the same would apply for the rest of the world. There are chances wherein other regions may get the update before that, or in some cases after that. Also, there is no word on whether Samsung will be releasing version 8.0 or 8.1, something that we will only come to know once the official rollout begins.
