Samsung has posted a notice on its Members app for Korean users that confirms plans to roll out Oreo update sometime in mid-May, SamMobile reports. While Samsung hasn t revealed an exact date, the time-frame is in line with an earlier leak. Samsung s Turkish website was seen sporting a May 18 roll out date of the Oreo update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones. The website also mentioned that other devices like the Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017) and the Galaxy A7 (2017) will be getting the Oreo update on June 1.
While this does seem to be a confirmation of sorts from Samsung, it remains to be seen if the update is rolled out in time. There have been delays before as the company has quietly delayed the roll out dates without prior notices.

These kind of reports continue to highlight the fragmentation issue faced by Android. Despite the initial roll out starting nearly eight months back, Oreo continues to struggle in terms of market share. In this time, Oreo has only managed to reach less than five percent of Android devices. In comparison, 2016 s Nougat update continues to dominate with a 30.8 percent share.
