With just two weeks to go for Samsung s Unpacked event on February 21 ahead of MWC 2016, more details about the highly anticipated Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have started to surface. The latest leak gives credibility to the earlier rumors that pointed to both smartphones having waterproofing capabilities. India s import-export database Zauba has a list of spare parts for the Galaxy S7 carrying model number SM-G930F. These include SIM tray, mic, HRM (heart rate monitor) and octa components, all having the keyword waterproof. Samsung importing these components in large quantities also suggests that it could manufacture the smartphones in India. The South Korean giant manufactures bulk of its smartphones in the country, some of which are also exported to other markets. The Galaxy S7 Edge variant recently stopped by FCC, where Samsung disclosed some of the key features of both smartphones. The Edge variant will come equipped with a 3,600mAh battery, which is a solid bump from 3,000mAh as that on Galaxy S6 Edge+. While Samsung didn t mention anything about the Galaxy S7 battery capacity, it did reveal connectivity options such as NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and 4G LTE, which is supposed to be the same for both devices.
Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge specifications and features: From what we know so far, the Galaxy S7 could feature a 5.1-inch screen whereas the Galaxy S7 Edge could feature a 5.5-inch display. Both displays are expected to be Super AMOLED running at QHD resolution.
Under the hood, these smartphones will either be powered by a Snapdragon 820 chipset or an Exynos 8890 depending upon the market. It is likely to be paired with 4GB of RAM, and 32GB or 64GB storage options. After facing criticism for the Galaxy S6-family, Samsung is believed to bring back the microSD card slot for further expansion.
In the camera department, both smartphones could boast a 12-megapixel rear camera with a large f/1.7 lens aperture, a 5-megapixel front-facing selfie camera, a USB Type-C port and larger batteries with support for Quick Charge feature.
