Samsung has been testing Android 7.0 Nougat beta builds for its Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones. One of the software features as a part of TouchWiz UI is the dedicated modes for games and high-performance. But it looks like Samsung wants to take this to the next level. The Korean giant has filed a trademark for Beast Mode in the European Union.
Spotted by Dutch publication GalaxyClub, the trademark application does not include any detailed description. So, it s hard to tell what Beast Mode refers to. But judging by its name, it could have to do something with high-performance mode. Virtual Reality (VR) is the latest craze and it does need all the power for smooth functioning, and Beast Mode could be dedicated mode for VR content. It is rumored that Samsung may skip the usual February-March timeframe, and launch the Galaxy S8 at a special event in New York, sometime in April. But there is no official confirmation of the same.
Samsung Galaxy S8 specifications
After the unfortunate debacle of the Galaxy Note 7, there s a lot riding on the Galaxy S8. Samsung not only needs to win customers back, but also come out with an excellent product that is far superior than the competition, just like the Galaxy S7. Rumors claim that the upcoming Galaxy S8 smartphone will do away with the flat screen model, and will only be launched in dual-edge curved screen variant. It could be offered in two screen sizes — 5.7-inch and 6.2-inch, with QHD resolution. Reports also indicate that it will be an all-screen display, just like we saw on the Xiaomi Mi MIX concept phone. The dual-camera setup could take an advantage of Snapdragon s clear sight technology to capture better photos. It is likely to feature a 16-megapixel camera with RGB (color) sensor and 8-megapixel camera with a monochrome sensor, both homegrown and engineered by SEMCO.
