These renders are based on the CAD schematics which were revealed last week which suggested that the Galaxy S8 will have a small camera hump and the overall size will also be a little thicker compared to the predecessor. The renders are by a product designer who goes by the Instagram handle DesignWoos, show off both the Galaxy S8 and the larger Galaxy S8+ with dual curved edge display. The fingerprint scanner is placed at the back alongside the camera. Contrary to some reports, the renders show off the flagship smartphone retaining the 3.5mm headphone jack, SamMobile notes.
Other than the standard black, the renders also show off a deep red, blue, green, and dark grey color option. Meanwhile, a report on Investor notes that Samsung has almost doubled the first shipments of the Galaxy S8 compared to the predecessor Galaxy S7. The initial shipment is expected to have been pumped up by 40 percent. It is speculated that for the Galaxy S8, Samsung has set a sales target of 60 million units, which is significantly higher than the 48 million unit sales of the Galaxy S7 smartphone. Furthermore, the display arm of the company is reportedly set to supply 10 million OLED panels for the Galaxy S8 and 6 million panels for the Galaxy S8 Plus in the beginning. To add to the hype, the company is also rumored to be hoarding the full-clocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipsets for the Galaxy S8, which is apparently compelling other manufacturers to settle with other chipsets for their upcoming flagship smartphone.
In terms of specifications, Samsung will be announcing a smaller Galaxy S8 with a 5.8-inch QHD display and a larger variant, Galaxy S8+ with a 6.2-inch QHD display. Both the variants will have Super AMOLED display. Under the hood, the Galaxy S8 will have Qualcomm s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage while the Galaxy S8+ is expected to house 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
