Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ to launch in India on April 19: Price, specifications, features

Samsung India teased the launch of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ on Twitter.

After the global launch of Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, the smartphones are now officially stepping into the Indian market on April 19. While the dates were announced a while ago, with the launch dates nearing, Samsung India seems as excited about the day as we are. In a new post on Twitter, Samsung Mobile India has teased the launch of its flagship phones in India on April 19, 2017. Right now we can only wait to see how exactly India reacts to the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+, but the reactions of customers in US and South Korea do give us a hint at what it could be like. When the the new flagship smartphones went up for pre-order in the US and South Korea last week, Samsung revealed that the lineup is proving more popular than last year s Galaxy S7.

In just few weeks of the Galaxy S8 lineup pre-orders going live in the US and South Korea, Samsung witnessed a double digit growth (at least 10 percent) over Galaxy S7 s last year. Samsung reveals that pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have surpassed all past records in home country as more than 550,000 units of the phones have been reportedly booked in just two days. The Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD resolution and 586ppi. On the other hand, the Galaxy S8+ features a bigger 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD resolution and 531ppi. Display of both the devices are protected by Corning s Gorilla Glass 5.

Under the hood, both Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are powered by Samsung s Exynos processor and Qualcomm s top-end 835 processor, which varies according to markets. In India, the Exynos variants are expected to launch. Accompanying the processor on the both the devices is 4GB of RAM, and 64GB storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. The two run on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box with TouchWiz UI on top. Fuelling the Galaxy S8 is a 3,000mAh battery, while the Galaxy S8+ gets a larger 3,500mAh battery.

For photography, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ come with an 8-megapixel smart auto-focus front camera, and 12-megapixel dual-pixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture. Both the phones come with Alway On display and IP68 water and dust resistance capabilities.

In the US, the Galaxy S8 will be available for around $750 (Rs 48,700 approximately), and the Galaxy S8+ for around $850 (Rs 55,170 approximately).
