A lot rides on the Galaxy S8 after the catastrophic Galaxy Note 7.

Samsung s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8, is one of the hottest topics of discussion in the rumor mills over the past few months, especially after the unfortunate debacle of the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7. Despite Samsung trying to keep Galaxy S8 related leaks away, a lot of details have already surfaced. Just yesterday, we came across leaked case hinting at the possible smartphone design, and now, we are being treated to the first photos of tempered glass screen protectors for the Galaxy S8. Time and again, rumors have hinted at the smartphones sporting dual-curved edge displays, and the freshly leaked tempered glass protectors show nearly non-existent bezels. We recently came across a leaked promo video, an ad for Samsung s AMOLED display, and the leaked panel look similar to the smartphone spotted in the video. These also are in line with the leaked cases we have seen so far. Also Read - Samsung Galaxy M32 gets a price of Rs 2,000; now selling at a starting price of Rs 12,999

The top and bottom bezels are also pretty thin, and the physical home button is absent. Samsung is expected to use an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that resides beneath the display, which does away with the need for a physical home button. There is no word on the display size, but going by what we have come across so far, the Galaxy S8 is likely to sport a 5.7-inch display, whereas the Galaxy S8 Plus variant could sport a slightly larger 6.2-inch display.

Also, if you look closer at the glass panels, the top bezel has an opening for earpiece, ambient light sensor, selfie camera and another opening, possibly for the iris scanner for biometric authentication, something that we have already seen on the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung Galaxy S8 specifications

From what we know so far, the Galaxy S8 variants are likely to be powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 835 SoC or Exynos 8895 chipset, both built on 10nm process. They could be paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM along with 128GB or 256GB onboard storage options.

In the camera department, the Galaxy S8 is rumored to feature a dual-camera setup at the back one 16-megapixel RGB sensor, and an 8-megapixel monochrome sensor. However, the leaked renders and case that we have come across so far only hit at a single rear camera setup. However, some rumors also point to the dual-camera setup being exclusive for the Plus variant. For selfies and video calling, a front-facing camera with auto-focus capabilities is also likely to be in tow. ALSO READ: Samsung Galaxy S8 leaked case hints at possible smartphone design

The rest of the rumored features include a massive 4,200mAh battery with support for fast charging and wireless fast charging, heart-rate sensor, water and dust resistance, and fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options such as 4G LTE with VoLTE, dual SIM card slots, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and GPS are also expected.

In the software department, the Galaxy S8 boot Android Nougat 7.1.1 out-of-the-box, wrapped under Samsung s TouchWiz UI. There is no word on the launch date yet, some reports point at MWC 2017 unveiling in Barcelona next month, whereas other reports hint at April launch. However, Samsung is yet to announce its Galaxy S8 launch plans.
