We are less than a month away from the launch of the aggressively leaked and rumored smartphone, the Galaxy S8. Samsung skipped the traditional MWC launch for its flagship smartphone, and announced that it would launch the Galaxy S8 on March 29 in New York. Samsung is also expected to launch the Galaxy S8+ alongside the Galaxy S8, and both the smartphones will reportedly go on sale starting April 21. Complementing this information is a new report which says that Samsung has begun mass production for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ at its production facility in Vietnam.
This comes from a report by a South Korean publication, which says that Samsung is expected to manufacture 4.7 million units of its flagship smartphone this month. Samsung is also said to increase its production of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in April up to 7.8 million units. The latest report doesn’t come as a surprise as Samsung is aiming that its new flagship smartphones compensate for the Galaxy Note 7 debacle. In addition to this, the South Korean giant is also said to launch the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in key global markets simultaneously.
We do have a fair idea of what lies in store for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+, but there’s still no stopping to its leaks showing up every other day. The bigger variant out of the two, the Galaxy S8+ with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset, has now been spotted on benchmarking website Geekbench. The Galaxy S8+ bearing model number SM-G955U has a single-core score of 1929 and a multi-core score of 6084. The Geekbench listing further shows that the Galaxy S8+ runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and comes with 4GB of RAM.
