In what looks like a celebration of the successful release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales at the box office, Samsung launched a special edition of its latest Galaxy S8 flagship smartphone. Listed on Chinese e-commerce portal JD.com, the Pirates of the Caribbean Samsung Galaxy S8 edition is priced at RMB 5,988 (approximately Rs 56,700). What makes the otherwise not-so-ordinary looking Galaxy S8 special as a Pirates of the Caribbean edition phone is that it is shipped in an exclusive treasure box, complete with a customized protective case and a special ring holder. Once you turn on the phone, the Dead Men Tell No Tales is set as the default theme. Also Read - Apple sells more iPads in early 2021 than ever, grows along with Samsung
If you were wondering the special edition Galaxy S8 comes in a customized avatar from the outside, then you are in for the disappointment as the smartphone is only shipped in a dedicated box with a special theme set as default. It is also worth mentioning that the special edition Galaxy S8 is available only in one variant that is equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. However, one can choose from existing color choices of black, gold, blue, and grey. ALSO READ: Samsung Galaxy S8 review: A combination of beauty, beast and near-perfection!
In terms of specifications, there is no change in the special edition Galaxy S8. It features a 5.6-inch quad HD display with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 under the hood. For photography, there is a 12-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel front camera. Fuelling the smartphone is a 3,000mAh battery. It runs on Android Nougat out-of-the-box and comes with OTG and dual-SIM support. As of now it is unclear if the Galaxy S8+ will also be offered in a similar themed box.
