Samsung Galaxy S8+ to Xiaomi Mi Max: 6 phablets you can buy in India right now

Ever wondered why people prefer smartphones with bigger screens? While some find the bigger display real estate appealing, others like the feel of holding a big device. The answer however differs from person-to-person. Smartphones with screens are certainly a rage among certain segment of buyers, and market research firm Canalys says that more than three of every 10 smartphones shipped now has a big screen. Phablets merge the qualities of both a smartphone and a tablet, and is typically sized somewhere in between 5 and 7-inches. In case you are on the lookout for a smartphone with a display bigger than 6-inch, here are your options.

Samsung Galaxy S8+

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + devices have been the talk of town ever since their launch. The ‘Plus’ variant is the one we are targeting, which flaunts a 6.2-inch display. Priced at Rs 64,900, the phablet comes with an Exynos 8895 octa-core SoC, 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal memory. The phablet sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with Dual Pixel technology, and there’s an 8-megapixel front-camera. It is armed with a 3,500mAh, and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box

Xiaomi Mi Max

Launched last year for Rs 14,999, this is the first phablet from Xiaomi. In May, Xiaomi CEO also confirmed that they sold a total of 3 million units of Mi Max since its launch. In terms of specifications, the phablet comes with a 6.44-inch display and weighs 203 grams. The primary camera is 16-megapixel with PDAF with dual-tone LED flash, it can record 2160p videos at 30fps. The front camera is 5-megapixel with wide-angle fixed focus lens. It is powered by a 4,850mAh battery, which the company claims can support up to 14 hours of online video streaming on a single charge. Mi Max is price in India is Rs 14,999 with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM, while the 4GB RAM and 128GB ROM variant is available for Rs 19,999.

Oppo F3 Plus

Oppo F3 Plus was first launched in March for Rs 30,990. In terms of specifications, the Oppo F3 Plus flaunts a 6-inch FHD Super AMOLED display. It is powered by a Snapdragon 653 chipset processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The device features a 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture along with an 8-megapixel 120-degree wide-angle lens. The front camera also comes with Beauty 4.0 software. On the back, it packs a 16-megapixel camera with f/1.7 aperture. The smartphone comes with a 4,000mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The smartphone has recently got a price cut and hence will now be available at a discounted price of Rs 27,990.

Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro

The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro comes with a 6-inch full HD (1080p) Super AMOLED display. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 653 octa-core chipset paired with 6GB RAM. There is also 64GB onboard storage, which is expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card. The phablet features a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and 1080p video recording capabilities. It also has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with f/1.9 aperture. Armed with a 4,000mAh battery, the phablet runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out-of-the-box. The phablet launched in India for Rs 36,900, however, it is available for Rs 34,500 via Amazon India. The Lenovo PHAB 2 flaunts a 6.4-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT8735 quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The phablet sports a 13-megapixel snapper at the back with f/2.0 aperture, with PDAF support. The camera also has the ability to click photos with Augmented Reality effects. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The PHAB 2 features a big 4,050mAh battery underneath and runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0. The phablet is now available via e-commerce sites for Rs 10,999.

Sony Xperia XA Ultra

The Sony Xperia XA Ultra runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Featuring a 6-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display, the smartphone is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek Helio P10 MT6755 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage. It sports a 21.5-megapixel rear camera with Exmor RS sensor, hybrid auto-focus, HDR photo mode, auto-scene recognition, and LED flash and a 16-megapixel selfie camera. It packs a 2,700mAh battery which is expected to deliver up to 2 days of battery life.

Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra: The smartphone comes with a massive 6.8-inch 1080p display. The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 652 chip paired with 4GB of RAM. The smartphone sports the same 23-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and 4K video recording capabilities, and is armed with a 4,600mAh battery and USB Type-C connector.
